…and now blogging toward a Memoir

Into this Brave New Year of daily challenges we might need some reminders that the state of affairs has been bad before. Yet we have survived, and fabulously.

So in addition to this Archive of past writing, often chronicling the life-affirming art made by others, a challenge for myself is to write about my life. As  gay people, it is impossible to untangle the personal from the political. We have often been progenitors of change in the larger society, and we have always been its targets. My own memoir starts during infancy, with mooning my mother, and will proceed into a wanton fogey-hood.

Now at age 76, those darn “what was that name/time/word?” moments are more annoyingly frequent. So I might use some help with details from my peers. I will also be asking for input on the title of my book-in-progress from blog readers. And to lure in all you queers-at-heart, and as reminders to keep writing, I’ll proffer in these blog posts moments from our collective past that feature both political fabulosity and good plain perversity. A blog to jog my Memoir, if I may be so bold.
